Despelote (videogame)

Despelote is a soccer game about people, capturing the everyday life of Quito through the eyes of eight-year-old Julián. Players can dribble, pass, and shoot their ball around the city’s streets and parks, observing how people react and how the atmosphere shifts as Ecuador gets closer to qualifying for the World Cup. The game, co-created by Julián Cordero and Sebastián Valbuena, is a semi-autobiographical reflection on childhood, soccer, and community in Latin America. Featuring authentic Ecuadorian voices, Despelote aims to create an honest and immersive portrayal of the city’s culture.
