We’re thrilled to announce that Now Play This will be making special appearances in both Germany and South Africa this year! As part of our commitment to building international bridges in the world of playful culture, these events will showcase projects from artists and developers who challenge mainstream conventions and redefine what games can be.
Our first stop is Next Level Festival in Dortmund, Germany, from November 14 to 17. Here, we’ll present 1001 Nights and Atuel alongside two playful workshops: Hybrid Worldling, where participants will merge digital and physical storytelling, and Who Killed Society? – A Psychogeographical Murder Mystery, an interactive experience that invites exploration of space in a whole new way. And for those attending, we will also be there representing Now Play This! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to connect with us. Get your tickets and learn more about Next Level here.
Our journey continues to Playtopia in Cape Town, South Africa, on December 6 and 7. This event will feature 1001 Nights, MAZE Walkthrough, and Viewfinder, all providing thought-provoking experiences designed to spark curiosity and introspection. Secure your tickets and read more about Playtopia here.

About the Festivals
Next Level Festival is Germany’s leading festival dedicated to exploring the intersections of art, culture, and digital games. Bringing together creatives, technologists, and audiences, it offers a space for collaborative exploration of what gaming can mean in a cultural context.
Playtopia, based in Cape Town, celebrates the innovative and artistic side of gaming, showcasing experimental games and playful installations from around the world, making it a perfect match for the Now Play This spirit.
Our theme this year, Liminality: Playing Between Worlds, speaks to the unique, transitional spaces where art and play meet, evolving together and expanding horizons. We’re thrilled to bring these events to diverse new audiences and invite anyone near Dortmund or Cape Town to join us for these exciting pop-ups!
Let’s play and connect—across worlds!
