Now Play This is centred on an exhibition that features more than twenty games: some physical, some digital, some traditional, some experimental.
Our game-designers-in-residence, Angie Bual and Fergus Dunnet, will be working on a new game all weekend, trying it out every day with the help of playful visitors. Ra’eesah Hassan’s site-specific paper sculpture Amorphous – the Paper Series will fill a whole room, a playful space to step into and perhaps curl up with a book. Plus there’s Klondike’s new game – so new it’s still only called Secret Plane Game – alongside a wooden pinball machine, LED strips, gloves with special powers, parlour games, and a whole wall of experimental games that exist somewhere between game, poem and instruction set.
We’ll also be showing Scenes from The Forest of Sleep, the scene and character generation part of an experimental storytelling/adventure game inspired by Russian fairytales, coming in 2016 from Ed Key (Twisted Tree Games) and Nicolai Troshinsky, with additional prototyping and development by Aubrey Hesselgren.
And a whole lot more…
